Residents of Palos Verdes not only have access to the best dining venues, but most have breathtaking ocean views too. One of the premier places to dine is at the luxurious Terranea Resort atop cliffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Two restaurants that stand out are the cliffside Nelson’s and the elegant Mar’sel both serving Californian and New American fare. The decadent Café Pacific and casual Vista Grill both promise ocean views and delicious Californian cuisine using fresh and seasonal local ingredients at the Trump National Golf Course.

Think Prime Steak House is an upscale steak house serving perfectly cooked steaks, chops, and lobster with top-notch service. Italian lovers delight in eating mouth-watering Italian pasta and pizzas at Avenue Italy and Giorgio’s with flavors that will transport you to Italy.

At Salsa Verdes, locals savor outstanding Mexican cuisine from the Yucatan, southern and northern areas of Mexico. For great sushi and Japanese food on patio dining with ocean views, Asaka Sushi will not disappoint.

Residents have plenty of upscale shopping options from luxury brands to everyday items. The Promenade on the Peninsula is a mixed-use shopping mall with retail shops, places to eat, salons, and a movie theater. At the Peninsula Shopping Center, you have a wide assortment of shops, a grocery store, and food selections.

Golden Cove Center has a Trader Joe’s, local shops, and restaurants to choose from. For fresh produce and handmade items, stop by the Palos Verdes Farmers Market each Sunday.

Things to Do

Living in a beach community in Southern California, Palos Verdes provides plenty of fun activities to enjoy any time of the year. With proximity to the coast, spending a beach day at Terranea Beach, Pelican Cove Beach, or Abalone Cove Beach is something to be enjoyed daily.

The Portuguese Bend Beach Club is the ultimate recreation complex right along the Pacific Ocean for those living in the community. Amenities to enjoy are beach access, tennis, beach volleyball, a playground, surfing, tide pools at low tide, and social events. Golfers can play at the award-winning Trump National Golf Course with coastal views that can’t be matched.

​​​​​​​There are several hikes in and around Palos Verdes but a few that stand out are Terranea Discovery Trail, Abalone Cove Trail, and Shipwreck Trail each with sweeping ocean views. One of the best places to take in a stunning sunset is strolling along the cliffs at Pointe Vicente Lighthouse. It is a beautiful historic lighthouse built in 1926 that stands prominently on the point. Catalina Island right off the coast of Palos Verdes makes for the perfect day trip or weekend getaway via a ferry.
